After months of work and collaboration with parents, students, community partners, and other school district stakeholders, the 2019-2024 SDMA Strategic Plan was unanimously approved by the school board on June 10, 2019.
The process used to create the strategic plan was very comprehensive. During the 2018-2019 school year, district officials worked with Student Education to:
- Conduct two strategic planning surveys with 1230 survey respondents offering input.
- Hold over 40 focus groups to obtain face-to-face input from employees, students, parents, citizens & leaders, administrators and Board members.
- Meet five times with our Steering Committee to synthesize findings from surveys and focus groups and identify key areas of focus for the strategic plan.
- Meet two times with Administrative Team members to begin to draft the action plan focus & measures.
Once the strategic plan was approved by the Board, marketing materials and a condensed Plan on a Page were created to share the strategic plan with staff, students, parents, community members, and all other school district stakeholders. The Board approved an addition to the strategic plan in June 2021 to add the expansion of academic programming support outside of the school day to Pillar 4. Despite some challenges and interruptions due to staff capacity and the COVID-19 pandemic, work on the plan has been regularly monitored by the Board, and measurable goals have continued to be set during each year of the plan.
