With the calendar flipping to August next week, the start of the 2019-2020 school year is rapidly approaching.  As noted on the school district calendar, check in/orientation day for all students will be held on Thursday, August 29.  If you know of anyone new to the school district, or if you have a child entering school (4K, etc.), please check out the registration information on the school district website or contact the Administrative Service Center (715-232-1642) so the registration process can be completed ASAP.

There are still several weeks left for students and staff to enjoy the summer break, but now is a good time to think about building in some reading and other academic activities into August schedules for children. Perhaps also consider establishing some daily routines that might make going to bed and waking up on a more regular schedule less of a shock when the school year starts.

We have been busy in the school district preparing for the new school year, and on Monday, the Board approved the hiring of Perry Myren as the new athletic director and assistant principal at Menomonie High School (see attached press release).  Mr. Myren will start his new position on July 29.  In the meantime, please refer to the school district website for activity schedules and other important information about preparing for fall sports and activities.

In addition to approving staffing recommendations, the school board has been busy this summer on many items that include the approval of the district's new strategic plan, reviewing several policies, overseeing the closeout of the 2018-2019 budget, and setting goals for 2019-2020.  A new webpage has been created to house all new school board meeting agendas and minutes.  Anyone can self-subscribe to the site and be emailed anytime new information is added.  Agendas are normally posted on the Thursday preceding the Monday meetings, and minutes are posted after the Board approves them at their next regular meeting.

Much of this information will be repeated in a school district newsletter that will be sent to all households in August, but until then, have a great summer!
