Virtual School Drop Requests

Virtual School Drop Requests
Posted on 09/08/2020

Dear SDMA Families,

The school district has received some requests for withdrawing students from the full-time virtual school program with the hope of re-enrolling students back into the in-person instructional program. The SDMA Reopening Plan was developed to provide families with choice, but there are limitations to the amount of choice that the school district can provide. The commitment for the full-time virtual school program was supposed to be for the entire first semester. While the SDMA recognizes the need for some families to request a change, we also have to be mindful of current capacity limitations in our schools based on the selections families made over the summer.

Since it might be possible for the SDMA to readmit some students back into the in-person program, there will be a short window for families to request this change. To request to have your child(ren) in grades 6-12 removed from the full-time virtual school program and readmitted into the in-person instructional plan, please complete this online form by 5:00 pm on Thursday, September 10.

Since the WVS portion of the full-time virtual school started later for students in grades K-5, requests to have child(ren) in grades K-5 removed from the full-time virtual school program and readmitted into the in-person instructional plan will need to be completed by using this online form before 5:00 pm on Thursday, September 17.

Families requesting to have more than one child readmitted into the in-person instructional plan will need to complete a separate form for each student.

There are also some families who have requested that their child(ren) be placed on a waitlist for late admittance into the full-time virtual school program for first semester. Additional enrollments to the virtual school program have not been possible up to this point, but the district is still working on this as a potential possibility. Also, information about choices for second semester instruction will be shared with families later this fall.

Thank you.
