Non-Resident Families-Open Enrollment
Wisconsin's Open enrollment program allows students to apply to attend a public school outside of the district in which they reside.
Who can apply?
Any Wisconsin resident in 4K to grade 12 may apply to attend a nonresident school district under the open enrollment program
When can parents apply?
There are 2 ways parents can apply. The regular period and the Alternative.
1) Regular Open Enrollment Application Period opens February 6 - April 28, 2023 at 4:00pm for the 2023-24 School Year. The best way to apply is online here.
2) The Alternative application allows pupils to apply for open enrollment anytime during the school year. Alt open enrollment application for the 2023-2024 school year will be available July 1st and can be found here.

2a) Please complete the Tuition Waiver Form if the student started the school year residing in Menomonie School District, then moved out of the district but wishes to finish the remainder of the school year in the Menomonie School District.
Please note: For future years-The student may only continue to attend Menomonie School District if the student applies during the next available open enrollment period (mentioned in number 1 above) .
Once your Open enrollment application has been approved, you then can complete the SDMA enrollment packet
Open enrollment is only for non-resident families. If you live in Menomonie Area District and would like to transfer to a different elementary school, please refer to the In-District Transfer page.
