SDMA Update 2-26-23
Posted on 02/27/2023

Dear SDMA Families and Staff,

It was a banner weekend in the School District of the Menomonie Area! In addition to a number of other great school and community activities, MHS had a successful opening night for this year’s musical, the girls basketball team won a regional championship, three Menomonie wrestlers participated in the state wrestling meet, and the boys hockey team advanced to state by winning the sectional championship yesterday with a goal in the final minute.

The hockey team will be playing at state on Thursday, but because of the number of school days already canceled this year due to bad weather, classes will still be held in the SDMA. Students and staff members who would like to attend the state hockey tournament are still encouraged to go, but the district plans to do whatever we can to keep all schools open on Thursday. With approval from parents, students can request a prearranged absence for Thursday from their building principal, and the district will be communicating with faculty and staff the process to be followed for requesting time off. If there is enough interest, the district plans to help arrange a fan bus for students. If anyone is interested in sponsoring the fan bus to help keep the cost down for students, please contact Perry Myren ([email protected]) by 9:00 am on Monday.

Congratulations to all of the students, families, and staff members who have experienced so much success during this winter season! If you would like to attend a production of this year’s musical at MHS, additional shows are scheduled today and next Sunday at 2 pm, and at 7 pm on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

Hopefully we'll be able to open schools on time in the morning, but the current weather forecast for tomorrow morning does not look great.

Have a great week!
