Dear Families and Stakeholders of the School District of the Menomonie Area,
We are writing to inform you of the city’s upcoming “5th Street Construction” project starting
tomorrow (June 4th, 2019). This project will have various impacts on operations at Menomonie
High School throughout the summer. The project will also bring some positive changes to the
future traffic flow at MHS.
The safety related improvements that benefit school families and community members include:
-A right turn only lane coming into the school southbound.
-A right turn only lane exiting the school from the secondary exit.
-Adding a “4Way” stop to the 5th Street and 19th Street Intersection.
-Widening the current 5ft sidewalk to become a 10ft bike path.
To make these improvements a possibility, there will be slight traffic delays and changes to be
aware of over the course of the summer. Additionally, the city and project foreman have ensured
us that they will maintain and keep available at least (1) entrance into the main lot of the high
school and access to the fieldhouse entrance at all times.
As the project gets underway, we simply wanted to notify you of the project and the potential for
slight delays in getting to the school. This may also have a slight impact on summer school and
parking lot traffic flow, but will not affect summer school operations or schedules in any way.
Sincerely,
Joe Zydowsky
