Dear SDMA Families and Staff,

As we begin the final quarter of the 2024-25 school year, here are a number of reminders and informational items from the School District of the Menomonie Area:

• Paraprofessional Appreciation Day- Today is paraprofessional appreciation day! Thank you to all of the paraprofessionals in the SDMA who do such a great job working with our students. Your work is recognized and greatly appreciated!
• Menomonie High School Parent-Teacher Conferences- Tomorrow (April 3) will be the final night of parent-teacher conferences in the SDMA this year. Even though the PTC schedule will be complete, families are encouraged to contact teachers anytime there is a question or concern about your child's education. The SDMA district calendar is available on the SDMA website.
• Pine Avenue Reconstruction- Due to road construction, Pine Avenue will be closed near Wakanda Elementary School for the rest of the spring. Please be extra careful when traveling on the detour when children are present. More information and a map of the reconstruction project is available on the City of Menomonie website.
• Downsville Elementary School- Discussions have been taking place about the future and possible closure of Downsville Elementary School. Please read this month's School Crossings column for more information.
• Youth Suicide Prevention- This is an important issue that we take very seriously in the School District of the Menomonie Area. In conjunction with state law, each year the Department of Public Instruction (DPI) distributes literature to schools about preventing youth suicide. • School Board Election- The annual school board election was held yesterday across the school district. Based on the preliminary results, it appears that congratulations are in order to Rachel Henderson, Abe Smith, and Dominique Stewart for being re-elected to the school board. Thank you to everyone who voted and to all of this year's candidates for being willing to serve.
